Ultimately data shows that this is a pressing problem in the Netherlands and Rotterdam. Latest Police reports inform that 94% of religious discrimination is towards Muslim individuals, while recognizing how religious discrimination can often intersect with other grounds of discrimination, like ethnicity. Wijkprofiel and Omnibus data provide Rotterdam-specific information. For both, when grouping together people who identify ethnically as Turkish or Moroccan, we notice how they systematically report higher discrimination than others (more details to be found in the complete study). Ultimately the study recommends: it is important to continue to put Muslim discrimination on the agenda and to further promote awareness. In doing so, Muslim discrimination should also be explicitly named where possible. Moreover, improving the system for registering Muslim discrimination while ameliorating the social infrastructure in the city to address patterns and consequences of Muslim discrimination.
