This project is part of the plan Rotterdam Against Racism undertaken by the Municipality of Rotterdam. The analysis and the website are developed by the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in collaboration with anti-discrimination agency RADAR.

The Municipality of Rotterdam
The policy document “Rotterdam Against Racism” sets out the municipality of Rotterdam’s vision for a more equal Rotterdam community. This plan is partly the result of the Black Lives Matter protests of summer 2020, and an addition to the earlier action programme “Relax. This is Rotterdam”. Rotterdam is a superdiverse city, where groups are treated unequally based on different personal characteristics. To deal with this, the municipality is working towards sustainable changes. This includes a scientific search for a new way to measure discrimination in the city, in which trends can be better monitored in the longer term.
Erasmus University Rotterdam
With its impact-oriented strategy, also known as ‘the Erasmian way‘, the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) conducts scientific research for positive social impact and an inclusive society. The EUR is characterized by its scientific position in the middle of the society. This involvement in Rotterdam offers the opportunity to investigate social changes and bottlenecks around inclusion. But most of all, the EUR aims to make the anti-discrimination policy in Rotterdam more scientifically substantiated. For example, EUR researchers are developing the inclusivity dashboard that displays the collected data on neighbourhood level. The inclusivity dashboard contributes to ‘evidence-based policymaking’ by systematically providing information and encouraging policy adjustments.
The EUR research team originates from the Public Administration and Sociology department, specifically: the Governance of Migration and Diversity research group in collaboration with the Erasmus Initiative Vital Cities and Citizens.
