Rotterdam and superdiversity

Superdiversity is a feature of the city of Rotterdam. This superdiversity does not solely refer to origin, but also socio-economic status, education, income level, living circumstances and more.

According to theory, acceptance of diversity follows a U-curve of high acceptance with little diversity, decreasing acceptance with increasing diversity, and high acceptance with a high degree of (super) diversity. What this study aims to do is to apply whether this dynamic applies to Rotterdam and its discrimination patterns, ultimately investigating the relationship between superdiversity and discrimination. It will do so by utilizing Wijkprofiel data and Omnibus data, and will analyze this link in different neighborhoods in Rotterdam with different features of diversity and reported degrees of discrimination.
